About John Chwat

John Chwat

John Chwat is a native Washingtonian who currently serves as the President of the government relations firm of The Chwat Group. It is his role to aggressively represent the interests of his large base of clients on Capitol Hill.

John Chwat became enamored with politics early on. His deep passion for lobbying, or government relations, started in High School when he began campaigning for multiple different leadership and political positions in his school. His dedication paid off: he became the Student Body President at the Brooklyn Center, Long Island University and the President of two Republican Clubs (one at the University and one in Queens).

Over the last 40 years, Mr. Chwat has earned a reputation in DC for his professional experience, impressive intellect, and superior work ethic. Mr. Chwat has served important politicians on both sides of the aisle, making him one of the most well-rounded and experienced lobbyists in the industry.

Mr. Chwat maintains a uniquely personal understanding of Congress thanks to his Congressional research position as a national defense and foreign policy analyst for the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress. His vast professional experience has made him a popular lecturer and speaker, both nationally and abroad. He has also taught a number of college courses on lobbying, the legislative process, and the US government at George Mason University, Trinity College, and North Virginia Community College.
